group.ONE has acquired 100% of the Finnish web hosting company Zoner Oy. This acquisition marks the sixth in a series of purchases made by the group in the past year.
“Zoner has shown impressive growth over recent years. Together with their attractive product portfolio, it makes them a very interesting investment for us”, says Stephan Wolfram, CEO of group.ONE.
“The Finnish market is in many ways similar to the other Northern European countries where we already lead the market for hosting and web services. We therefore see this acquisition as an excellent opportunity to further strengthen regional leadership by establishing a local presence in Finland”, explains Stephan Wolfram.
Since the private equity fund Cinven acquired the majority of shares of one.com in February 2019, the company has focused on its ambition to become the leader in Northern Europe when it comes to online presence services. The strategy for achieving that goal has included both accelerated organic growth, and selective acquisitions. In the last year, there have been six successful acquisitions in Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark and now also Finland.
What sets one.com apart from the competition is support in local languages as well as user-friendly products and services.
“Zoner is a fantastic, growing business and the core values of the company align with ours at group.ONE. The very foundation is that the customer is at the heart of the entire business; our main focus is on providing the products, technology, and support to nurture their online journey. I understand why local Finnish entrepreneurs and small businesses choose to partner with Zoner for enhancing and maximising their online presence.”, said Jake Rooney, Head of Mergers and Acquisitions, one.com.
“one.com is a business we have always admired. We are very excited to continue our journey with such a strong partner. one.com brings us more muscle for even better service for our Finnish customers and for building technology that further develops business. Over the past year, Zoner has grown really strongly, by more than 50 percent. We are confident that this development will continue as ever more entrepreneurs and SMEs recognise the importance of choosing the right partner for this type of service”, says Toni Claren, Founder and CEO, Zoner Oy.
Zoner Oy will continue to be a Finnish business in Vantaa, Finland, run by Finnish employees who will continue to serve its predominantly Finnish customers. CEO Toni Claren will continue to serve as head of the company in the future.
